BIOGRAPHY
Born in a family of dark mages in Nohr, Nyx quickly picked up the dark arts and found that, pleasantly, she was quite good at it. Considered a magical prodigy, she had a hard time making friends when she was younger, and thus resorted to practicing her magic diligently through the books that she found in the family library. Social isolation led to a lack of empathy, and coupled with childish disregard, she tested out her spells on people to test her limits. It quickly got out of hand, however — a spell she wielded was so powerful that it killed many innocent civilians, and the curse locked her eternally in her young body. Wracked by guilt, she hid away from the world for many years using her magic. Years in isolation recently made her came to terms with her terrible actions, and while she understands she can’t simply erase her sins, she seeks to find ways to atone for her past.
PERSONALITY
Nyx generally likes her peace and quiet, and enjoys a book in her little corner rather than a chaotic meddling of people. However, it is also not formed out of pure choice: years of isolation and guilt has brewed a sense of social awkwardness and anxiety. She craves human interaction, yet punishes herself at the mere thought of wanting to be close to people, lest she will hurt them again in the future. This need to push others away can make her prickly, and while she can be independent, she doesn’t mean harm... generally.
She also aspires to be someone that others can depend on, and is extremely perceptive with regards to small details and changes of the people around her — however, she has troubles accepting that it is a good deed (after all, isn’t that just common sense?)
Hiding away from the world for a long time makes her grow a deep appreciation for wildlife animals and plants, rare sights in the decaying country of Nohr.
Nyx feels a constant tug and pull between her young appearance and old mentality, and struggles still to find a way to properly come to terms with that. She has a great admiration for those that are unafraid to show their true selves and speak their own mind.
HEADCANONS
Nyx’s real age is in the late 30s.Nyx’s parents were often busy, and, while loving, were unintentionally emotionally neglectful. They didn’t know what to do when Nyx was ostracized from her peers with her magical skills, and only pushed her to practice more. Her family is no longer alive. She killed them when she casted the spell that locked her into her child body.She enjoys nature in general, and sometimes spends a long time soaking herself in large bodies of water as it distorts her mirrored image.She often feels dissociated from her current body, and the dark mage attire only makes things worse. She doesn’t eat a lot of meat.
